OpsDev is not DevOps

I love devops. A lot of people wrote about it, so I won't repeat. If you are interested, start with Wikipedia.
Devops made my work much more interesting. It also gave me an official job title: I have always worked between development and operations. I like that position but it used to be hard to look for jobs. Now I am "devops". Easy.

Except I started on the wrong side, working in big companies and dealing with old school operations. Trying to automate things, but always respecting The system, The process and The manager. On the contrary, devops are rather developers who turned their development process agile, then became junior sysadmins to create agile infrastructure. This works very well in startups, essentially web based ones.

Unfortunately my "old IT" is still the majority. Devops is a wonderful goal, but we have to deal with reality right now. So let's say I'm an "opsdev". It is the same thing, I am just more patient.
